Applications for this course are managed through DfE Apply. Your application will be assessed and candidates who meet the entry criteria will be invited to an interview either online or in person depending on your preference.
Once you accept a place to train with us you will be sent pre course information including details of your placement school which we will arrange on your behalf.
Term 1 Main Placement
You will be placed at your main placement school from the first day of the course in September. You will attend group training with other trainees at the SCITT centre in Buckingham on Wednesdays. The group training sessions cover all aspects of teaching. We also offer regular subject specific training sessions with specialist Primary teachers.
Term 2 Second Placement
From the start of term in January you will be based at your second placement school. This is usually a contrasting school to your main placement and will allow you to deepen your understanding of the full breadth and depth of the Primary curriculum with a different cohort
Term 2/3 Return to Main Placement
After February half term you will return to your main placement school. You will gradually begin to teach more lessons and add to your timetable. The course runs until the end of June when you will present your final summary of evidence to show that you meet the Teachers Standards. Following this you will be awarded QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) and PGCE.
